Find your base first
Before breaking anything, identify your base and a clear return landmark. Keep the first target nearby so you can learn the entire loop without a long journey.
Break, collect, return
Use the current game prompts to break an egg with your pickaxe. Once the animal appears, pick it up and return past the guards. A hatch alone is not the finished run.
Place before upgrading
Place the animal at your base and check the cash display. Repeat a route you can complete before testing a harder target. Compare upgrades against the step that delayed you most.

Begin with the core loop instead of copying the pace of videos that include purchases. Keep your target and route consistent when trying an upgrade; successful deliveries are a useful progress measure.
